What I love about winter: placing ornaments on the tree while telling the story of each ornament, hot cocoa with marshmallows, and a half-finished woolly sweaters on my lap.
My favorite parts of this time of year are warm, cozy socks, hot cocoa with marshmallows, Christmas lights, and the lovely white tree that my boyfriend bought me.
Favorite thing about this time of year – Sitting by a cracklin’ fire with DH, curling up on the couch with a bowl of popcorn listening to podcasts and audiobooks while watching it rain, knitting anything warm, celebrating our wedding anniversary, but most of all celebrating the birthday of Him – the Reason for the Season.
My favorite Christmas tradition. I grew up in a military family that has lived and many different places with many different cultures, that spun into a family tradition. Every year for Christmas dinner our family would take turns picking a different country our culture (no repeats allowed) and our meal would be what every that country eats for Christmas/ celebration meals. When it is our turn to pick– we rotate (Dad, Mom, my sisters family, and my family) we choose the year before at our Christmas meal, then mom has a year to research and plan.
A true family tradition is heading out to the Christmas tree farm to cut down our tree each year. We ride out to the field on a wagon drawn by a huge tractor. This year the ground was covered in snow, but we have been there in tee shirts in 60 degree weather. We spend time playing in the field, bickering over which tree is “perfect” , and spending time together. Our visit concludes with a stop in the snack shack for a hot chocolate or cold cider. It is always a great time.
I posted on the 16th but don’t see it, so will re-post today….my favorite thing….CHEX mix, I have my own recipe and it is the only time of year I make it. Friends and family dropping by for a glass of wine, munching on Chex Mix and good conversation…The Best!
Thanks for sharing the butter brickle recipe. I had the ingredients in the house and whipped it up on a whim. It is so good. I really think it should come with a warning label:)
Listening to episode 96 and you mentioned the new “hot yoga.”
I just heard about this, from my 110 pound daughter.
I have to tell you, it scares me to hear my tiny 20 yo dd is doing this as I worry about the dehydration and heat.
She did say they are always drinking water…but still, I would probably passout.
Merry Christmas Meghan!
