Meghan,

I've been thinking about what you said about funny business between the romney sheep whose fleece you bought and wonder if it can instead be attributed to simple differences in sheep and breeding. A couple of years ago I sent a romney fleece from NY state to the Wooly Knob for processing. I believe they are someplace in the midwest, or were. Jamie exclaimed over the fleece that it was very fine for romney and he never saw local romney fleeces that were that fine or soft. It seems to be a breed with a great range of fiber diameter.

Thanks for the show - I enjoy it, loved your Glee recommendation!

Hi Meghan -

I just wanted to let you know that I am really enjoying the new format/segments of the podcast. I have big dreams of being more self-sufficient, but unfortunately I still rely on the convenience of grocery store produce and products for the most part. You're a real inspiration and I have my gardening catalogs coming for next year so I can plant some tomatoes and strawberries.

Chris in Hesperus, Colorado where we had 6 inches of snow last night. Lovely!

I wanted to make your Pumpkin Muffins so bad, but I am trying to stay away from gluten, so I used rice flour instead of the white/wheat flour.
I also had to substitute a molassas glaze, because I didn't have maple syrup.
Ok....Now I am going to have to tell everybody I know about these muffins!
They are the yummiest things I ever made!
I am curious to see if my DH likes them because he won't eat cranberries, so I will find out after dinner.....
(he won't see any cranberries because of the glaze, hehe :)
I must go grab another one!

OK Meghan... I loved this episode!!! THANK YOU for sharing your Rheinbeck experience with us. I love your enthusiasm, and it was great to hear about your adventure, and I listened to Jackie's a few days ago. I'm SO glad you got to go. I felt like I was there! (addendum: I WAS supposed to go...and stay at my parents close to where you were (I'm from CT)...but my kiddo was sick with the flu, and now I WISH I went! but anyway ...)
THANKS AGAIN for the episode, and the muffin recipe (I'm whipping up a batch tomorrow).
Carpe Lanum!
Kris in New Hampshire

p.s. and YES, Stew Leonards is AWESOME :) I like it just as much as my kids do!

Love the muffins -- I got the recipe in the swag bag at Rhinebeck (nice to meet you!) and made them Sunday morning. My boys love them and want them every morning for breakfast! The smell of the muffins cooking is pure Autumn -- yummy!
